How to Make a Starbucks Iced Latte at Home
Step 1: Prepare the Espresso Base
Add 1–2 teaspoons of instant espresso powder to a small cup. Mix with ¼ cup hot water and stir until fully dissolved.
Step 2: Sweeten the Coffee
Add 1–2 tablespoons of sugar or brown sugar and stir until dissolved.
Pro Tip: Use a premade flavored simple syrup instead! It sweetens and adds a bit of flavor. We used Torani Vanilla syrup, but there are so many fun ones to try – even seasonal ones!
Step 3: Add Ice
Fill your serving glass with ice to your desired level.
Step 4: Pour in the Coffee
Pour the espresso mixture over the ice.
Step 5: Add Milk
Add approximately 6–8 ounces (about 1 cup) of your preferred milk.
Step 6: Stir and Enjoy

Optional: Make Homemade Cold Foam
Want your latte to taste even more like Starbucks?
- Add 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream to a small glass.
- Mix in 1–2 tablespoons vanilla syrup.
- Use a frother, whisk, or hand mixer until slightly thickened.
- Carefully spoon the cold foam over your latte.
Important: Don’t overmix or you’ll end up with whipped cream instead of cold foam.
For an even more authentic coffee shop experience, drizzle caramel sauce around the inside of your glass before adding ice and coffee. This simple step creates the same delicious caramel flavor found in many Starbucks specialty drinks.

Can I make this dairy-free?
