Remember the good old days when everything at Dollar Tree was just a crisp dollar bill? Back in 2021, they increased prices to $1.25 and since that time many stores have added the Dollar Plus section where you can shop an assortment of name-brand toys, electronics, food, home goods like throw blankets, and seasonal decor for $2, $3, or $5.
The “Dollar Plus” sections have been one of the most popular additions to Dollar Tree stores – allowing shoppers to find more of their needs in one store. This is where they plan to bring over 300 new products – with prices ranging from $1.50 to $7.
Earlier this year, we saw an increase in price on quite a few items – helium balloons, for example, went from $1.25 to $1.50 and now about 2/3 of their cards will be $1 instead of the awesome 2/$1 they’ve been for years.
In better news, some items like snacks and drinks did return to just $1.
What did we see drop back to $1 in 2024?
Hundreds of Dollar Tree items have returned to their beloved $1 price tag, about 5% of their inventory.
- Candy
- Sodas & Water Bottles
- Spices
- Canned goods
- Powdered drink mixes
We’re stoked to see Dollar Tree going back to its roots and offering more items for just $1, but here’s a shopping tip worth noting: sometimes, Dollar Tree’s $1 items may not be the bargain they appear to be. Keep an eye on the per-ounce price, as some products can sneakily cost you more than you’d expect. So, while Dollar Tree may be the land of deals, it’s always wise to double-check those price tags.
