Social media is all abuzz this morning with the news that Target changed their self-checkout policy. Over the weekend, Target switched all self check-out lanes to be express lanes which means you can only use them if you have 10 items or fewer. Self check-outs were requested more during the pandemic because customers wanted contact-free checkout, but now convenience and ease are back at the top of the customer’s wish list. To answer this demand, Target is opening more traditional lanes staffed by team members.
They tested this concept out at about 200 stores and saw great results with self-checkout moving so much faster. Now, it has been rolled out nationwide.
