If you purchased a Synergy restaurant gift card at Costco recently, check your balance. The company behind the cards has gone out of business, and all cards are now likely showing a $0 balance.
The good news is we’re hearing some Costco locations may offer refunds for unused cards. To help speed things up, it may help to print your card balance to show the funds were unused. We’re hearing most Costco locations are checking balances before issuing the refund, and systems are reportedly overwhelmed and causing delays.
Also note that many participating restaurants have already stopped accepting the cards, even when balances still appeared, due to concerns about not being reimbursed.
If you have one of these cards, bring it (and your receipt if available) to Costco customer service to ask about your options.
