Before we know it, the next class of graduates will be heading off to college!
It’s bittersweet to send your child off to college. You are torn between excitement for this next adventure and sadness with them leaving the house. Something that is fun to do for your college student is to help them get ready to go by gathering up the essentials they will need while at their new home away from home.
Most dorms will provide a Twin XL bed frame and mattress, closet and small desk or work area. You can’t fit a lot of things in the little rooms, so be sure you really only pack the essentials. If you have a roommate, it’s a good idea to chat with the roommate before you move in and split the items you want to bring for your room, so that you don’t duplicate unnecessary items.
We rounded up the top items college students may need for the dorms to make their stay away from home a little bit easier.
Fan – Some dorm rooms get really hot and also helps with white noise.
Household Products – Toilet Paper, cleaning spray, paper towels, hand soap, toothpaste, toiletries, body wash.
Kitchen items if applicable – Pots and pans, cups, utensils.
Mattress Cover/Protector (Twin XL)
Mattress Topper Memory Foam (Twin XL)
Mini Fridge (preferably one with a small freezer space also)
Sheets (Twin XL)
Small Appliances – Toaster, microwave, blender, air fryer (if allowed).
Let us know if we forgot anything big! Regardless of what you are able to take, we hope your student has an enjoyable year at school.
