Anyone who used Google Assistant and interacted with the service and whose voice recording or audio data may have been collected, stored or reviewed as part of “assistant activity”
What’s This Class Action Settlement About?
The lawsuit claims Google Assistant may have recorded or processed users voice interactions and private conversations without proper consent. Google Assistant can activate and record communications even when a user does not intentionally trigger Google Assistant with a Hot Word, like “Okay Google,” or manually activate Google Assistant on their device.
Who Qualifies for the Settlement?
Any U.S, resident who used Google Assistant on a phone, speaker or other device and interacted or used voice commands processed by the assistant
How Much Money Can You Get?
Although the payout is not quite official yet, $68 Million has been proposed and you may be eligible for a cash payment, but you must submit a claim by the deadline.
Is Proof Required?
Yes – you may be required to provide proof of purchase or usage of each claimed device that had an active Google Assistant.
