Kroger Rewards Just Got Better: Save on Groceries or Gas with Your Points
Kroger just rolled out a nice update to its free rewards program, giving shoppers more flexibility in how they use the Points they earn.
Previously, Points could only be redeemed for fuel savings. Now, you can choose to use those same Points for money off your grocery purchase instead.
Here’s How Kroger Points Work Now
You’ll earn 1 Point for every $1 you spend when shopping with your Kroger Rewards card in-store or online for Pickup and Delivery. You can also rack up extra Points through qualifying gift cards, prescriptions, and special promotions throughout the year.
If you’re a Boost by Kroger Plus member, you’ll earn 2X Points on eligible purchases, helping you earn rewards even faster.
How to Redeem Your Kroger Points
You now have two ways to cash in your Kroger Points:
-
- Fuel Savings: Redeem 100 Points for 10¢ off per gallon, up to $1 off per gallon (a maximum savings of $35 on a 35-gallon fill-up).
- Grocery Savings: Redeem 100 Points for $1 off your grocery purchase, up to $10 off per day. You’ll need to apply your Points through your Kroger digital account or the Kroger app before checking out.

Earn Extra Points This Summer
Kroger is also offering several bonus Point promotions for a limited time, including:
- 4X Points Fridays through July 24
- 4X Points on purchases made July 1–4
- 4X Points on Private Selection® products with a digital coupon through July 18
TFG Tip 💡
While it’s nice to finally have the option to use your Kroger Points on groceries, we’re still sticking with fuel rewards! That same 1,000 points saves me $35 in gas vs $10 in groceries, but it could be a definite savings winner when paired with sales, coupons, and cash-back offers!
