Big Lots Expands Store Closures + FULL LIST of Stores Closing

Big Lots has just announced that they will soon close another 56 stores. This new announcement comes right on the heels of Big Lots listing store-closing sales on 46 other stores. We’re hearing that these stores are offering up to 20% off storewide right now, but we can expect those discounts to rapidly increase.

In total, Big Lots has closed or announced the closure of 494 of its stores — that’s nearly 40% of the number of stores they had at the beginning of this year! Last month, Big Lots filed for bankruptcy with the intent to sell the remainder of their business to private equity firm Nexus Capital Management. This is the same firm that owns Toms Shoes, Dollar Shave Clubs, FTD, and more. We’ll have to wait and see if Nexus revitalizes Big Lots or continues to shutter stores.
