After closing 590 stores in fiscal 2024, GameStop told the SEC it plans to shut down “a significant number” more in fiscal 2025. With the fiscal year ending January 31, closures are accelerating fast — and tracking sites report over 430 stores are planned to close or have already closed this month.
As of Jan. 11, about 435 stores in 42 states are on the closure list. With roughly 2,325 U.S. stores as of early 2025, that’s a major cut to GameStop’s retail footprint. The company is also scaling back internationally, having exited several countries and planning to leave France within the next year.
